EDA layers explained

Learn how the layers in EDA work and how to use them

The layers in EDA

In Easy Digital Album every template is composed of layers. The layers in EDA are different from the normal layers in other applications, eg. Photoshop. Our layer can accept up to six levels itself. Below you can see a diagram with the order of the levels in a layer.

In order to add a layer to a layout you can click on the A button, on the bottom left side of your layout. It will turn the interface into the M (Manual mode). You can then select form the top bar the kind of layer you. want to add. You can also enter the M (Manual mode) by double click on the layout. When you enter the manual mode you can see the Rulers and the Margins of your layout.

Note: When you enter the manual mode the Automatic layout function is disabled, so you can drag anything on the page and manual create the layout you want.

The layers in EDA can be used in many ways so you can create many different elements with them.
You can add an Image layer, that can accept an image. There are already many different sizes for you to choose from.
You can also add other layers, as decorative elements on your layout, like Static layers, Gradient layers, Stroke layers and Text layers.

Note: All the above layers can not accept an image.

Layer Properties

Every layer can be resized and rotated by the blue handles that appear when you select it. It can also accept a number of properties like Opacity, Stroke, Shadow, Mask and Image Overlay. These properties are non destructive and can be applied and removed as many times as you want.

The same is applied to the Image layers, that are placeholder for your images You can resize the layer a hundred times and you will loose nothing in the quality of the image it contains.
Image layers can also be cut in equal pieces, making complicated layouts in just a few seconds. They can also be merged together.

When you have more than one layers in your layout you can change the order of the layers, bringing it in front of the others or send it back. Each layer you add gets its order sequentially. To see the order of your layers select from the top menu View-Layers' Numbers.
